Hardening Cassandra for Compliance (or Paranoia)
Security is always at odds with usability, particularly in the context of operations and development. More so when dealing with a distributed system such as Apache Cassandra. In this presentation, we'll walk through the steps required to completely secure a DSE cluster to meet most regulatory and compliance guidelines.

Specifically, we'll discuss:

* Different types of at-rest disk encryption options available (and how to tune them)

* Configuring SSL for inter-cluster communication- Configuring SSL between clients and the API

* Configuring and managing client authentication

* Security focused features of DataStax Enterprise

* Securing JMX access

Speakers
NM

Nate McCall

This presentation goes deep into the details of securing Cassandra. In this talk, Nate McCall, Co Founder of The Last Pickle will cover everything from encryption both at rest and on the wire, to authentication and access control as well as securing access to management and tooling.

Monitoring Cassandra
Apache Cassandra can seem like a black box when it comes to monitoring, but as Open Source technology everyone can can know how to monitor performance and diagnose issues. In this talk Aaron Morton, co-founder at The Last Pickle and Apache Cassandra Committer, will discuss how to get access to the great metrics Cassandra expose, which ones are important, and what they mean.
